Allium schoenoprasum, or chive, is the smallest member of the onion family. Native to Asia, Europe, and North America, it has been employed as a culinary ingredient for millennia. Although chives can be steeped as tea, they are most often utilized as a finishing spice on top of baked potatoes, soups, steamed vegetables, stir fries, and omelets.
